I first read this new at Malaysia-Today at 1.00pm thinking that its just rumour as the PM has in this morning’s paper says that the Cabinet meeting today will not be that last(13/02/2008).
But a later check with other online news gives me a different story … barely 24 hours later …
This is the extract from BBC News Online :
Malaysian PM Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has dissolved parliament more than a year before its term was due to end.
He gave no reason, but analysts say he is looking for a fresh mandate before Malaysia’s economy slows.
The country’s election commission is expected to meet soon to set the election date.
An election next month would also rule out opposition figure Anwar Ibrahim, who is barred from standing for office until April because of a conviction.
