Sony Alpha Convention 2008 [10.10.2008 to 12.10.2008], Le Meridian Hotel, KL Sentral. 3 month late to post it up but what the heck, it’s my blog anyway and this is one convention too good not to talk about it.
Let me tell you this. This is my first Sony convention and after 2 days there, I’m committed to Sony Alpha! I can now call myself an ORANGE enthusiast! I’ve never been to any organised photography convention before nor any live forum but now, I’m really committed. This post is a little over 3 months late but I really wanted to post up the pictures of the models (the chrome, metals & girls) that I took over there. All taken with my A200! (and one from the newly launched A900)
First, The chrome & the Metals …
This Ducati was one of the first few bikes that I’ve taken with studio lighting. It’s taken very early early in the morning before the event started. Untill Darren teaches us about AUTO Photography, I didn’t realise that the lighting used on the the bikes and stage costs about RM10K each. No wonder why the pictures turn out so good in a indoor enviroment.
Same goes for this one as well. One of the hilights of the convention is also the launching of the A900 35mm Full Frame Professional DSLR and they have a test unit for everyone to try it out. Learning from other participants, I tested the A900 with my memory card in it and kept the photo’s for comparison later. The next bike is taken with the A900.
It looked small cause I have the picture reized. The actual size of the picture is about 15MB. Thats huge! Why was it so? Cause it’s a 24.6MP professional DSLR. This is really the Alpha series DSLR’s flagship. It’s amazing that for a full professional DSLR (comparable to Nikon’s flagship D3 & Canon’s flagship EOS-1D), Sony managed to keep it’s price low to just about RM10,000 for the body alone. That’s really cheap for a high end DSLR.
The bikes are the courtesy of Harley-Davidson and Ducati. they are arranged by Darren Chang. One of the presenter for the 3 day convention. His webpage is http://www.autodetailed.com/blog/.
… and now, the girls. There are 3 models availale for the 3 days conention and all 3 are available for photoshoting.
Model No.1 (not my favourite. Her eyes is a little sleppy but is still better than the 2nd model although she rarely smile)
Model No.2 (the least favourite. Her eyes are too small and to compansate for the small eye, she put on too much mascara and eye liner to my liking cause I can’t capture the glow in the eyes. In addition, she also got a very large tatoo’s on her back)
Models No.3 (The crowd’s favourite. She’s really cute and smiles a lot. Her flaw is that one of her eyes is noticeably smaller than the other)
By the way, this photo was not taken by me. It’s taken by miko. Since miko’s the only female photographer at the moment with the huge crowd of other male photographers, she gave her best smile to miko. This girl is really a crowd pleaser.
This is taken by me using the 300mm telephoto lense. There’s still a number of pictures but I didn’t take my time to select the best one and just paste it up lar. Oh yeah, all the photo’s above, other than resizing and cropping them, there’s no other adjustment made.
See. Sony Alpha DSLR is really of a decent quality for the price that you pay.
